Overwrite is an economic development consultancy providing institutional clients with scalable capacity and specialized expertise through outsourced credit underwriting, small business advisory (technical assistance), and strategic consulting services. Our clients include Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), Microfinance Institutions, Credit Unions, Community Banks, Financial Technology companies, government agencies, and economic development organizations.

Overwrite’s ideal underwriting clients are small to mid-sized community finance organizations with under $50 million in assets. We support a broad range of lending activity, underwriting transactions across retail, healthcare, transportation, media, hospitality, food service, personal care, consulting, education, and other industries. We typically underwrite approximately 50-100 in loan volume per year and have delivered over 1,000 hours of technical assistance, consulting, and training to mission-driven organizations over time.

Our team brings professional experience spanning commercial banking, microfinance, consulting, tax, nonprofit finance, higher education, and technology. Collectively, we have worked across five countries and speak multiple languages, enabling us to serve diverse communities and institutional partners effectively.
